We Were Created to Express Ourselves

Today in our society, there is a stigma associated with expressing one’s thoughts and opinions, especially if you are a part of the Black & Latino community. I was inspired by a conversation with a friend of mine that explained to me the Kaepernick situation that took place. A simple bodily gesture done during a symbolic ritual that caused an uproar in the nation. Whether you agree with his statement is not for me to argue. However, I will argue that he does have the right to EXPRESS himself.

One of the most eye-opening moments in my life was when I was sitting in the audience of Marc Lamont Hill speaking on Martin Luther King Day. I initially didn’t know what to expect but he eventually let me stunned as he ended the speech about activism and the concept of Ubuntu.

ADHD and Me

I hold on tight every single day, praying that I won’t slip into another episode. I lose focus, mind feels almost like it’s loose in my head. Controlling ADHD with will, prayer, and hopefulness is a near impossible quest that I intend to conquer. Failure is not an option but at times it seems like the goal is never so far.
