I’ve been very transparent about my struggles on here. I even admitted that my posting schedule has dropped significantly because of these struggles. Yesterday, I was talking with a mentee about love, life, and everything in between. God and the concept of prayer came up. While encouraging him through my weakest moments, something I told him resonated with me. Continue reading “Pray WITHOUT ceasing”
Many people say I’m brave because of the leaps that I take in life. Leaps such as applying to the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago, standing up to people in high places of power, and for moving to Florida without having any friends or family here. Yet, people don’t see the fear and doubt that boils up within me behind closed doors. Although I have been blessed with many talents and abilities, my biggest weakness is FEAR. So much fear that it causes me to become paralyzed and have spiritual panic attacks. An attack that knocks the wind out of my body and breaks me down to my core in tears. Attacks in which I simply can’t see the light or a way out. Continue reading “Moving Through Fear”
When people talk about ADHD, they think about the kid that can’t sit still in class. They think about the boys that get into trouble all the time. Or the girl that can’t stop talking a mile a minute. Well, Tuesday it was confirmed that I do have ADHD Inattentive type and the best thing I can describe it as is my mind being a puppy playing in the snow. Continue reading “My Diagnosis: Inattentive Type (Cocoon)”
My personal schedule has been hellacious recently managing classes, personal health, and writing. I have about six posts that I’ve started and not finished that are things I just desire to express myself on. So, I pledge to continue to post as often as I can. The most relevant today is the protest, my good brother, Colin Kaepernick started in fall of 2016.
The music business is a fickle industry. The way to attack marketing and creation of music is a very fluid in approach and can easily fail horribly. After my last review of H.I.M. and H.E.R., I enjoyed both projects but was unsure of the places H.E.R. and H.I.M. would fill. Less than six months later, I feel confident that both H.E.R. and H.I.M. have potential to be here to stay.
I’m just writing this because it has been sitting on my heart. I’ve been reading over the past few days about Kenneka Jenkins and her death (Link at the Bottom). The saddest part about this story is that it is not surprising or new the details to culminated in her death. To avoid posting graphic images or talking about unknown things until more information is revealed, I want to talk about some recent thoughts on some serious topics. [Trigger Warning]
I’ve been hearing the same sentiments over and over. Online or in person, people have a bad taste in their mouths about Christianity. Why? Because the “Pastors are pimps. “Congregation is judgmental.” and “no one is Christ-like anymore”.
It feels good to be back and I am so excited for the changes that should be happening in the future for Everything’s Magnificent. I plan to be back on my daily writing plan and all is right in the world as I head towards my final year as a graduate student at UNC. On the personal side, I’ve accomplished one of my personal life goals. I’ve finished reading the Bible from Genesis to Revelations.
In honor of the fourth, I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about what it means to be American. From the very first moment I think about the red, white, and blue, I also must think about the color of my skin, Black. What does America mean to me?
Yesterday I wrote about Religious Bystanders in Politics and racked my brain thinking of the different fields that need immediate change. Last week, a close friend asked me if I had the power to make anything I say come true without consequence, what would I do?
