NPR Tiny Desk:Anderson.Paak

If you guys have been checking all the previous NPR Tiny Desks that I post with NPR Tiny Desk: Noname and NPR Tiny Desk: Big Baby D.R.A.M. today I wanted to show off an older Tiny Desk while I wait patiently for Chance’s Tiny Desk to go live on NPR Music: Anderson.Paak.

I’ve talked about Anderson.Paak multiple times as putting out two phenomenal projects in 2016 with Yes.Lawd and Malibu. Anderson.Paak formally known as Breezy Lovejoy has been putting out music consistently for years, but it wasn’t until Dr. Dre’s Compton soundtrack that he started to attract national attention. Since then, he’s been poised to take a top spot in hip-hop/R&B with his funk, soul, rap, and R&B flavor.

Anderson.Paak and the Free Nationals came to NPR to truly have a good time. Paak is very likable in a cool rock star form that really connects. My favorite thing about him is that he plays the drums while singing. The rest of his band are used to a playful banter between songs that makes me curious about watching a complete 45 minute set with them. In short, I definitely will be trying to check him out live in the future.

Set List:

  • “Come Down”
  • “Heart Don’t Stand A Chance”
  • “Put Me Thru”
  • “Suede”
